My little freinds Ada and Emma asked if I dyed these eggs. No, they're naturally blue. They were given to me by my friend Eva, who got them from a local farmer. I'm not sure what kind of chickens give blue eggs, but I'm sure they're not blue.

Those are amazing; Martha Stewart would kill for them, I'm sure! I think I remember hearing about a breed of hens from South America that lay blue eggs but I've never seen any 'in the shell' so to speak.
They're either araucana chickens, or what are called easter-egger chickens (they are hybrids with some araucana ancestry) and they do indeed come from South America. The chickens themselves are pretty ordinary looking.
And, I first read about them in Martha Stewart magazine, so there you go.
